Opening your PPEC

Opening your Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) Facility

Once you've decided to open your own PPEC, there are many variables to consider. We're here to help you every step of the way!

01 Getting Everything

                      Started

The first step you'll need to take is filing the appropriate Articles of Incorporation with the Division of Corporations. Developing a plan for your PPEC business before making long-term decisions is crucial. We can help you build a plan that makes the decision-making process easier by narrowing down the goals and objectives of your business.

02 Location, Location,

                      Location

One of the most common challenges in the PPEC industry is finding the best location for your business. Whether you are considering leasing or buying a space, the building requirements from county and city agencies are constantly changing. Entering an agreement for a sub-optimal location can lead to big financial losses.

03 Proof of Financial

             Ability to Operate

Part of the licensure process is proving to Medicaid and AHCA that you have enough capital to open a PPEC. While AHCA does not require a CPA to prepare these complex forms, it should be prepared by someone with an accounting background and plenty of attention to detail. Detailed data collection and analysis is an important part of this process, including asset versus liability comparisons and projections of the number of patients and staff you expect to have over your first two years of operations. Our team will collect this data and create a Proof of Financial Ability to Operate report on your behalf that meets AHCA and Medicaid standards.

04 Pre-Licensure

             Requirements

There are various inspections, permits, and certificates that need to be obtained before you can apply for PPEC licensure with AHCA. Our team can help you work with city, county, and state building and zoning departments, fire marshals, tax collectors, Department of Health, and other agencies. AHCA will also require your company’s Proof of Financial Ability to Operate, which we can prepare for your application.

05 Ready to Apply for

                     Licensure

Once you have completed all pre-licensure requirements, you are ready to apply for PPEC licensure with AHCA. Our team will review your application for completion and accuracy, and make sure all required supporting documents are present within the application package.

06 Preparing for Initial

                      Inspection

Once your application for licensure is approved by AHCA, they will call you to schedule an initial licensure survey. We will prepare you for this survey and give you the tools you need for a successful outcome. For an additional fee, our team will be on-site during your inspection to assist you.
